Volunteers of America clients featured on Capital Public Radio-Sacramento News & Review series on 'Living Homeless'

Capital Public Radio's feature on 'Moms' (Shirley Cliff),
a former client of Volunteers of America's Winter
Shelter, is the first in a four-part series on "Living Homeless" that KXJZ has produced in a partnership
with the Sacramento News & Review.

KXJZ Living Homeless series
Dozens of social-service agencies – including Volunteers of America – were on hand for Sacramento's second annual Homeless Connect event May 30 at Sacramento City College.

A "one-stop shopping" opportunity for the homeless to gain essential health-care and legal services, as well as housing referrals, Homeless Connect also provided Capital Public Radio and the Sacramento News & Review with a "one-stop interviewing" opportunity in which the two media outlets joined forces to talk to homeless individuals about their stories – including several Volunteers of America Winter Shelter clients.

The result is "Living Homeless," a four-part series of interviews conducted by CPR's Joe Barr and Paul Conley broadcast daily at 6:33 and 8:33 a.m. June 8 through 11 on KXJZ (90.9 FM), and a print feature by the same name written by Ted Cox for the June 11 edition of Sacramento News & Review.
