In keeping with Volunteers of America’s mission to “go wherever we are needed, and do whatever comes to hand,” our Community Outreach Service team seeks out those with mental health issues at community shelters, providing referrals for psychiatric services, medication, housing, and entitlement assistance through the County of Sacramento's Guest House clinic at 1400 North A St., Building A, Sacramento.

The Community Outreach Service specialty teams have more than 16 years of experience providing street and shelter outreach services to the homeless mentally ill (including seniors and older adults). Former homeless individuals are among those working as team members, offering a unique sensitivity and regard for the homeless clients they serve.
